GOAL OF THIS PROJECT

This project is meant to use expressive typography and re-designing
"The Hunger Games" - Book One, most specifically Chapter 9.

Banned at first, the novel tackles several aspects and issues in society which, despite being set in a dystopian world, are still relevant to current days: oppressive governments, child soldiers, reality tv and the impact on viewers and show participants. This last topic is the one I chose to develop, because it is the most contemporary and tangible in the everyday life of the target audience which, based on my findings, is set to be between 18 to 25 years old and prone to be engaging with this type of media content.
I worked maintaining a basic color palette and no images were involved, first off because I wanted to get out of the comfort zone of illustration and really make an effort to work only with type. Besides that, I made sure to convey the look, feel, and concept discussed in my visual communication strategy, which is aiming to bring to the surface how television (reality tv in this case related to the book and Chapter 9) mesmerizes viewers by depicting fake personalities or situations because of a lot of behind the scenes editing we are not seeing.
